I belonged to my H.S.’s official rifle club in NYS in the mid-70s. Had a faculty advisor & an on-campus range.

My high school had one for the ROTC rifle team and qualification into the 80’s. Probably still does.
Families were intact during those years so kids were not lost like they are today.
